Following our short stay in Oxford we headed south west to Wales.
Here is the imposing Severn Bridge, taking us across the Severn River and Wye River into Wales from England.

We were very impressed with
Caerphilly Castle. , the largest castle in Wales.
The castle has many many birds living around it - geese, ducks, seagulls, swans.
One of the towers was partially demolished during the civil war in the 1600s. Now apparently it leans over more than the leaning tpwer of Pisa in Italy.

After leaving Caerphilly we initially thought we would travel straight to Bridgend and unpack the car, but on the way decided we would have time to visit Gilfach Goch, the small Welsh village where Lesley's father was born and grew up. We reprogrammed the sat nav, which then took us on a narrow trek over the top of rolling hills...seemingly in the middle of nowhere! But the views were wonderful.
Gilfach Goch is one of the villages in the distance.
Lesley was confident these last two houses in the High Street were the ones of the Morgan family.
We chatted with Victor and Ann who live in the end home. Victor spoke of the renovations he has been doing over the past few years. (They have lived there for 11 years) He was saying there is still a large pulley system in the ceiling space that he believes was used to haul produce/goods up from the basement area to the grocery shop. He showed us the basement and the original large stone /slate pavers that were on the floor, which he has been removing. He also pointed out one of the original walls which he has retained as a feature. Victor even gave us a copy of the plans of the house which show some of the original layout of the home and shop.
