Carrbridge to Edinburgh ; a special railway bridge; beautiful scenery of Glencoe

Saying farewell to Carrbridge we started a long day of driving south towards Edinburgh, via Fort William and Glencoe.  We wanted to see a very special railway bridge...

Recognise the bridge? It's the Glenfinnan viaduct, in Glenfinnan, about 25 mins from Fort William. The very same bridge used in the Harry Potter movies.

Opposite the bridge, near the edge of Loch Shiel,  is the place in Glenfinnan where, in 1745, Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie) raised his banner and claimed the Scottish and English thrones.  You can see in our photo the monument marking this event:
