Edinburgh, car pick up; Driving to North Berwick

On Saturday 17th August we took the bus back to Edinburgh Airport to pick up our hire car.  Naturally, there were problems; in all the car hires I have arranged, I have never once got the car I requested.  This time I was told the VW Passat was not available in automatic.  I explained that we preferred an automatic....eventually we were upgraded to a BMW X3 ... so I didn't really complain any further!  I must really try to read the car's instruction manual - so many switches and options.  Anyhow, off we went to North Berwick by the seaside.   At first sat in the car in the pouring rain, but within 10 minutes, blue sky and sunshine.  Had a lovely walk around the shops before heading back to Dalmore Lodge in Edinburgh.
