After reading Trip Advisor reviews we knew we had to arrive EARLY to get a good spot at the gates of Buckingham Palace. I was hoping to be there at the latest , 1 1/2 hours prior to the Changing of the Guards. As it was, we arrived at about 9:50am and in some places the people were already two rows deep at the palace fence. Lesley & Emily spotted a great spot to the left of the main gates, roughly a couple of metres left of the main front doors of the palace. An American lady was minding spaces with her grandchildren's pram, so we stood immediately alongside the pram, which was great. It was absolute madness with the crowd by the time 11:15 had arrived; and when the guards and bands started marching in, the squeezing, squashing and pushing began. But we held firm with our great view and captured many wonderful photos and some great video. At one point one guard marched in his straight line to the palace fence, exactly in line to where Lesley was standing, looked her in the eye and said "Good Morning" Shame I didn't capture that moment on video; but you'll see lots of other great video when I get around to posting it.
Here is Lesley's "Good Morning" guard...
