London - St Paul's Cathedral

Monday, 16th September

This morning we spent quite a lot of time rearranging and repacking our luggage, ready for our journey to France.  But we did manage to get back on the tube and head to St Paul's Cathedral.  It was quite cold and windy so our first stop was the Crypt Cafe under the cathedral for a cup of tea with lunch.
We then bought the entry tickets and received our audio-visual guide, which was excellent.
It is truly wonderful when you first approach and then sit under the beautiful dome inside the cathedral.
Unfortunately no photos or video were allowed inside, but the website has photos you can browse.
We made up for this by taking lots of pics outside, especially after climbing the stairs to the galleries outside the cathedral dome.

Views from the first gallery, the Stone Gallery,  outside the dome...

Climbing up to the highest gallery, the Golden Gallery, you reach this platform where you can look through a small glass panel and see the floor of the gallery 85 metres and 528 steps below...

Views from the Golden Gallery on top of St Paul's dome...

Emily poses on her way down from the top of the dome...

Can you see the railing of the Golden Gallery?
On our walk back to our apartment in Southfields, near Wimbledon...
Pussy was keen to get inside....
Our apartment was part of this lovely home....
