Today we visited the Imperial War Museum. It is undergoing some major renovations, but there was still a lot to see. The "Family in Wartime" exhibition was very interesting as it told the stories of a family in Britain during the Second World War. Emily's gran was born in London and as a child was evacuated from London during the German blitz on the city.
A view of the front of the IWM...
Emily studies a model of a family home in London during WW2...
Two letters from an evacuated child...
What must it have been like for the children taken out of London, but also for those left behind?
Some of the posters of that time during WW2...
The plaque sums up for us...
We took note of the warning sign before entering the Holocaust gallery; Emily is very interested in the history, in particular why Adolf Hitler was so popular and came to power. We decided to leave some of the more graphic parts of the display for when Emily has had more time to learn about those terrible years.
