Just can't get used to the roundabouts - you really do have to make sure you are in the lane with the correct writing indicating which route/road you are intending to join after leaving the roundabout....otherwise you'll find yourself getting honked, and / or taking the wrong exit and getting lost. All in all, the journey to drive the car from Wimbledon to Heathrow, then catch the tube back, took around three and a half hours. The next day (Sunday 8th Sept) was a planned "take it easy" day, so we didn't do much apart from some grocery shopping and visiting a nearby playground...

On Monday 9th September we took the tube to the fabulous British Museum. It really is huge and we will need to return for another visit. If you lived in the UK you would do well to get a membership of the British Museum - then you could take the time to explore to your heart's content...and spend time in the exclusive member's room and cafe. Some of the photos we took of the Assyrian and Egyptian exhibits...
The famous Rosetta stone...we had to wait for the chance to squeeze in to take the photos, so many people waiting to look.
What do you think is happening in this wall carving?

On display at the Museum was an exhibition - Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum, showcasing these two Roman cities before and after they were destroyed by the eruption of the volcano Mt Vesuvius in AD79. It was interesting and also very moving, it included plaster casts of bodies of men, women and children who perished in the eruption. Here are some everyday foods that were carbonised by the intense heat of the eruption...
One of the many beautiful wall frescoes from Pompeii and Herculaneum...
